Is WoW more than just a game?
|
Newsweek brought up the age old question within MMOG's... are they more than games?
At http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14757769/site/newsweek/ they ask is World of Warcraft More than just a game?
This question has been asked since the text based games mass multiplayer online games of our past and even more so in the early breads of graphic based games such as Ultima Online and The Realm. They create a life of their own. Players become more than just players and a game becomes far more than just a game. Everquest was fondly dub'd EverCrack... was it addictive? Possibly, but no more addictive then our caveman desire for social acceptance and consistency within our surroundings.
Or maybe I'm just rambling. What do you think? Is WoW just a game you can quit and never think of again or is it something more... are the relationships real? the fun tangible?
Let me know.
